Filleting Intersection Edges

You can fillet edges corresponding to the intersections between the required features and copy them from one body to another.

In this task you fillet features, not bodies. To fillet bodies, initially perform a boolean operation. For more information, see Part Design User's Guide: Associating Bodies.

This task shows you how to:

Create Intersection with Current Solid

You can fillet all the edges created by the intersection of the faces of the selected objects and the rest of the faces of the solid functional set.

  1. From the Refine section of the action bar, click Edge Fillet .
  2. In the Propagation box, select the Intersection with Current Solid check box.
  3. Select a feature which intersects with the current solid and is to be filleted.
The selected feature is displayed in the Objects to fillet box and the work area.
  4. Click OK.
The edges of the intersection between the selected feature and the current solid are filleted.

Create Intersection with Selected Features

You can fillet all the edges produced by the intersection of the faces from the objects selected and the faces of the features you explicitly select.

  1. From the Refine section of the action bar, click Edge Fillet .
  2. In the Propagation box, select the Intersection with Selected Features check box.
  3. Select a feature which intersects with the features and is to be filleted.
The Selected Features box appears to let you select the features you want to interact with the object to fillet.
  4. Click the Selected features box and select a feature such as a shellable prism.

Shellable Prism Cylindrical is displayed in the Objects to fillet box and the work area.

  5. Click OK.
The edges corresponding to the intersection with selected features are filleted.

  6. Double-click EdgeFillet.x in the tree to edit the specifications. Click the Selected Features box and select the feature you previously selected.
  7. Click OK.
    Additional intersection edges are filleted.

Create Intersection with Core

You can fillet all the intersection edges between the faces from the objects selected in Features to fillet and the faces from the core (internal shape) of the solid.

  1. From the Refine section of the action bar, click Edge Fillet .
The Edge Fillet Definition dialog box appears.
  2. In the Propagation box, select the Intersection with Core check box.
  3. Select a feature which intersects with the core and is to be filleted. In this mode, a new multi selector appears to select the features which interact with the object to fillet.
The selected feature is displayed in the Objects to fillet box and the work area.
  4. Click OK.
The edges corresponding to the intersection of the feature with the core of the body are filleted.

Create Intersection with Cavity

You can fillet all the intersection edges between the faces from the objects selected in Features to fillet and the faces from the cavity (external shape) of the solid.

  1. From the Refine section of the action bar, click Edge Fillet .
  2. In the Propagation box, select the Intersection with Cavitycheck box.
  3. Select a feature which intersects with the cavity and is to be filleted. In this mode, a new multi selector appears to select the features which interact with the object to fillet.
The selected feature is displayed in the Objects to fillet box and the work area.
  4. Click OK.
The edges corresponding to the intersection of the feature with the cavity of the body are filleted.
