Navigating and Editing Parameters

You can navigate through the feature structure, display and select the parent and the child elements, and use parametric edition suggestions to edit the feature.

This task shows you how to:

You can navigate through the feature structure, display and select the parent and the child elements, and edit the parameters for the selected feature.

Before you begin: Create a shellable feature with a protected feature.
  1. Select the feature and, in the context toolbar, click Navigate and edit parameters .
    • The label appears to indicate the currently selected feature.
    • Parents and children appear in the work area.
  2. Expand Parents indicator and, from the list, select the required parent.
    The selected parent feature is now the current feature. The Robot handles, parents, and children are updated accordingly.
  3. To display parent or children of the selected feature as labels, double-click icon of Parent or Children indicator.
    The feature structure is displayed in the work area with labels on the linked elements.

  4. To display the indicator, double-click a parent or a child label .


  5. Click the arrow below the label that displays the current feature.
    The following check boxes are available:
    Parents
    Displays the geometry of the selected feature's parents in the work area.
    Children
    Displays the geometry of the selected feature's children.
    Current
    Displays the geometry of the selected feature.
    Context
    Displays a shaded view of the part with the selected feature.
    Edit parameters
    Displays the ruler and the Robot handles for editing parameters.
    The most appropriate feature parameter is searched. If this parameter is not found, all parameters of the feature are displayed.
    If the inner face is selected, thickness parameter is edited.

    In case of indetermination, all parameters are displayed.

  6. To exit the Navigation command and validate the parameters, click .
    Note: Click Cancel to exit the navigation without validating the parameters. This icon is available when the Edit parameters check box is selected.
  7. Double-click the Current label.
    The dialog box of the feature command opens and you can edit the feature's parameters.

Edit using Parametric Edition Suggestions

You can use suggestions for the parametric edition of features.

When selecting a geometric element, the most appropriate feature parameters are provided in the model history and can be used to edit the current selection. The edition suggestion capabilities are available while using the Navigate and edit parameters command.

  1. In the work area, select a feature and, in the context toolbar, click Navigate and edit parameters .

    You can select the face of the feature, fillet, chamfer, draft face, etc..

    If edition suggestions are available, the Parametric edition suggestions icon appears on the right side of the work area.
  2. Click Parametric edition suggestions .
    All the appropriate features and the parameters which can be edited are listed.
  3. In the Parametric edition suggestions dialog box, select a required feature from the suggested features.
    The selected feature becomes the current feature and a magenta wireframe displays the impact of the modification.
