Defining Reference Tables

You can create or load FMEAs, which are not linked to an architecture element and does not analyze any specific system.

Editing a Causality Relationship

Create a References Table

You can create an FMEA table, which is not linked to an architecture element. You can create several reference tables.

Before you begin:

Do one of the following actions:

  • Verify that no structure element is selected, in the Structure Tree.
  • Clear the loaded system in the app, by clicking Home .

  1. To create a reference table, click either:
    • Create Analysis , from the Edit section of the action bar
    • Create Analysis, from the home page

    If at least two templates are available on the server, the Choose Analysis's Template dialog box appears.

  2. Optional: From the Choose Analysis's Template dialog box, select the template to be applied.

If a template can be selected, this template is applied to the created table, otherwise the default template is applied.

Tip: You can rename the created table by selecting the node in the Structure Tree, pressing F2, and editing the title.

A child node representing the FMEA is created in the Structure Tree.

You can now load the created table to populate it.

Load a Reference Table

You can load a reference table to populate it or to visualize its content.

Note: To load a reference table, which is not in session, drag an FMEA from another widget to Failure Modes & Effects Analysis. For more information, see Objects You Can Drag into Failure Modes & Effects Analysis.

  1. From the Structure Tree, select the node representing the FMEA reference.
  2. From the Edit section of the action bar, click Load/Unload Analysis .

    The Structure Tree is refreshed and presents only the reference table if a structure was present.

    The FMEA table appears in the work area with its causality relationships, if it contains causality relationships.

    You can now:

    • Create causality relationships by using Create Causality Relationship , from the Edit section of the action bar.
    • Edit causality relationships.
