Creating and Editing FMEA Templates

You can create FMEA templates from existing provided templates and customize their content according to your needs. You can also modify existing templates, if their maturity statuses are Private or In Work.

Required responsibility: Leader

An Author can only use a template, if the maturity status of this template is changed to Released.


Before you begin: Display the code of the template to be edited, either by:
  • Creating a template: From the home page, click Create Template.
  • Loading an existing template: From another widget, drag a template with Private or In Work maturity, to Failure Modes & Effects Analysis. You can also select the template in the Recent contents.

Objects You Can Drag into Failure Modes & Effects Analysis
  1. Optional: To take as a basis a provided template, from the Administrate section of the action bar, you can:
    • Click a provided template such as aerospace FHA, automotive HARA, design FMEA, or process FMEA.
    • Click a template available from the search using Initialize with Template from Database or Initialize with Template from Document .
    The code of the provided template replaces the current code.
  2. Modify the template code.

    Note: To rename the template, change the title in the code.

  3. Click Save.

    The Save command is only available if the JSON code is valid.

  4. To let the template usable by an Author, open the lifecycle of the template, from Collaborative Lifecycle, and change its maturity state to Released. For more information, see Social and Collaborative: Product Development - Model Base: Collaborative Lifecycle for Dashboard: Changing Maturity.
