Converting XMpLant® Data

You can import XMpLant® data interactively and convert them to tessellations.

Note: You can also import XMpLant® data using DataExchangePLMBatch.

Before you begin:
  • The supported reference schema is XMpLantSchema _3.4.1.xsd.
  • For large models (ships, offshore platforms,...) we recommend you modify the visualization sag in the file before importing it. For example, a value of 0.5 is suitable for one meter long parts.
  • This app is not suitable to import large assemblies in one single file. A diagnostic box may be displayed.
    • Check the opportunity to import the file from the diagnostic box (if any), and decide to import it or not.
    • Split the file in several files with smaller contents before importing them.
  • The unit used for import is always the millimeter (The unit specified in the imported file is not taken into account). Check that the XMpLant content has been generated in mm. The information is provided by the Unit attribute in the PlantInformation header.
Import the XMpLant® file as explained in Import

Available extensions are XMpLant3D (*.xml) or XMpLant3D (*.XML).

The XMpLant data are imported as a product reference populated with geometry. They can be used in:
  • Search and navigation (attributes bases, structural tree) on PLM objects and catalogs.
  • Search volumic (3D index), navigation, 3D live viewing (clash, measure, Compass configuration, and search), diameter measures, snapping.
  • Open as a design context, snapping, drawing, 3D xml export (authoring) for 3DVIA apps.

If the names of the imported data exceed 128 characters, the propagation will fail.

Note: Only the following XMpLant geometrical entities are supported:
