Simplifying a 3D Shape

Generally, creating features makes the 3D shape more and more complex because it gradually adds faces to the resulting geometry. You can quickly simplify a 3D shape so as to make FEM analyses easier and faster.

This task shows you how to quickly simplify a 3D shape so as to make FEM analyses easier and faster.

  1. From the Recognize section of the action bar, click Automatic Feature Recognition .
The Feature Recognition dialog box appears.
  2. Simplifying a 3D shape means removing some of its faces created by fillets, holes or chamfers. For the purpose of our scenario, select Holes and Fillets.
  3. Ensure that Remove Face only is selected.
  4. Click OK to confirm the operation.
All the fillets and holes have been removed. Four Remove Face features appear in the tree.
