About Smart Projection

The Smart Projection option helps you instantiate flexible fasteners by identifying correct projection surfaces.

This page discusses:

Projection Surfaces

Smart Projection smartly projects the selected points on the pilot part depending on selected stacking parts.

In the following example, if the red point is selected, the app detects two possible projections.

Two Possible Projections on Pilot Part P1.

If Smart Projection is cleared, the normal projection is done on the nearest projection surface. However, if Smart Projection is selected, the projection surface identified depends on the selected stacking.

  • If the selected stacking is composed of P1, P2, P3, the identified projection surface is this surface:

  • If the selected stacking is composed of P1 and P2, the identified projection surface is the other surface.

Access to Use Smart Projection

Smart Projection is available in the Spot Creation dialog box if the Use Smart Projection preference is enabled. For more information, see Smart Projection.

Filtering Surfaces

Before using Smart Projection, you can specify if visible surfaces can be taken into account or not by the capability. For more information, see Surface Filtering.
