Specifying a Stacking Using Autostacking

When instantiating a fastener, you can get help to define the stacking by using Autostacking. Autostacking computes the stacking from the locations you select.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: To specify if visible surfaces must be taken into account by Autostacking, select or clear Ignore visible surfaces during stacking computation.

Manipulate Autostacking Results

  1. From the fastener instantiation dialog box, click Autostacking.
    The different identified stackings are displayed in the Autostacking results dialog box.

  2. Expand a stacking group to verify its content.
  3. Optional: To sort the stacking group, click either of the following:

    • : sorts the stacking group by the number of parts.
    • : sorts the stacking group by the number of associated fasteners.

  4. Optional: To delete the stacking group, click .
    All the fastener locations of this group are also removed from the fastener list.
  5. Click OK to validate and exit the Autostacking Results dialog box.
  6. Repeat this step for each stacking group.
    The stacking groups are dentified in the Fastener Instantiation dialog box.

Navigate the Groups

  1. In the group box, select a group.
  2. To navigate the groups, click the previous and next arrows.

Display Autostacking Results Again

Click Manage Stack Group.
Important: The stacking is not computed again.
You can see the current autostacking results displayed in the Autostacking results dialog box.
