Computation of the Stacking

To compute the stacking of fasteners, two modes are available:

  • Cylindrical: Two limits are used in the stacking computation. The first limit is applied along the normal direction of the fastener from the fastener position. The second limit is applied along the reverse normal direction of the fastener. The stacking is computed within the two limits.
  • Spherical: The radial limit is used in the stacking computation. All the parts intersected by the sphere with radial limits are added in the stacking.

To specify these options, select Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Multi Discipline Engineering > Fastening > Legacy Preferences.

Limits for Fastener Stacking Computation Modes

You can specify the limits for both stacking modes in fastener reference type files, or in the FstStandard.xls file. If you do not specify any limits, the app defines them.

For example, for the Fst_Spot_W!21, you can define the cylindrical and spherical modes as follows:

If you do not define these values in the fastener reference type file, the app searches for them in the FstStandard.xls file.

If you do not define these values in FstStandard.xls file, then the app uses these limits:

  • For the Cylindrical mode, Limit 1 is the length of symmetric fastener specified in the shape definition parameters. Limit 2 is set to 0.
  • For the Spherical mode, the radial limit is the length of the symmetric fastener specified in the shape definition parameters.
