Legacy - Updating Flexible Length Fasteners

You can update flexible length fasteners whenever the thickness of one component has been modified.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: Flexible length fasteners must be defined in your session.

Update Selected Flexible Length Fasteners

You can perform updates on a restricted number of flexible length fasteners available in your app session.

  1. Multi-select the instances of flexible length fasteners that need an update.
  2. Click Update Flexible Fastener.

The update can produce the following results:

  • If existing fastener references are still compatible with the modified stacking thickness, the update is complete.
  • If existing fastener references are no longer compatible with the modified stacking thickness, the update capability searches for the right fastener references. Replacements are done automatically whenever possible.
  • The required replacements of references are not done automatically. To know what is to be done, see Solve Complex Updates below.

Update Flexible Length Fasteners Included in a Product

You can update all the flexible length fasteners of a product in one shot. Note that the command does not apply to the root product.

  1. Select the product containing the flexible length fasteners.
  2. Click Update Flexible Fastener .

The update can produce the following results:

  • If existing fastener references are still compatible with the modified stacking thickness, the update is complete.
  • If existing fastener references are no longer compatible with the modified stacking thickness, the update capability searches for the right fastener references. Replacements are done automatically whenever possible.
  • The required replacements of references are not done automatically. To know what is to be done, see Solve Complex Updates below.

Update Flexible Length Fasteners in Session

To update all the flexible length fasteners available in your app session, click Update Flexible Fastener . The command applies to all the flexible length fasteners available in your app session.

The update can produce the following results:

  • If existing fastener references are still compatible with the modified stacking thickness, the update is complete.
  • If existing fastener references are no longer compatible with the modified stacking thickness, the update capability searches for the right fastener references. Replacements are done automatically whenever possible.
  • The required replacements of references are not done automatically. To know what is to be done, see Solve Complex Updates below.

Important:
  • Update Flexible Fastener does not take the positions of flexible fasteners into account.
  • Update All updates the whole assembly in your session. The command takes all types of fasteners and their positions into account.
    Tip: you can select the Update Flexible Fastener Using Update All option to perform automatic overall updates. For more information, see General.

    Depending on the check results that the command generates for flexible length fasteners, an Update Report dialog box may display errors. To solve detected inconsistencies, click Repair .

Solve Complex Updates

Sometimes updates are not done in one shot and the app cannot find the needed replacing references.

  1. If the update does not end successfully, the Fastener Check Rules Report appears. The fasteners causing trouble are shown in the dialog box. Right-click the fastener and select Edit the selected fasteners.
  2. Repeat the procedure for each fastener.

All flexible length fasteners are updated.
