Legacy - Modifying Fasteners

You can use Fastener Edition to redefine the stacking or the location method, change the direction, or the references of existing fasteners.

Important: The instructions described here apply to legacy fasteners only.


Before you begin: Create an assembly containing spot or bead fasteners.

  1. From the Fastener section of the action bar, click Fastener Edition .
    The Timeline panel that appears shows the chronological order of the different steps you need to perform.
  2. In the Navigation Criteria dialog box, enter your criteria to search for your fasteners, and click OK when the search results are displayed.
    The fasteners that are found are displayed in the Fastener Instances dialog box.
    Tips:
    • You can filter the fastener name in the dialog box.
    • To empty the selected fasteners in the frame, click Clear All.
    • You can move the mouse over a fastener to show the parts on which it is instantiated. All the other parts are displayed in low-light mode.
  3. To filter the fasteners, do one of the following:
    • Click one or more parts to add the fasteners in the frame.
    • Press Ctrl and click two parts sharing the same fasteners instances to intersect these instances.
    • Click a fastener in the 3D area or in the frame. It is automatically selected.
  4. Select a subset of fasteners and click OK in the frame.
    The Stacks of selected fasteners and Stacks of selected points frames appear and display the linked parts and the existing stackings.
  5. To modify the stacking, you can:
    • Add a part.
    • Remove a linked part.
  6. To merge two stackings, click .
  7. To create a new engineering connection (MCX) for the fastener instances set in your selection scope, click .
  8. From the context toolbar, you can use these commands:
    • : inverts the direction of the selected fasteners.
    • : changes the direction coordinates of the selected fasteners.
    • : changes the location method of the selected fasteners.
    • : reinvokes the Automatic Stacking to define the stacking.
    • : modifies the fastener reference.
    • : removes the selected fasteners.
