Visualizing Fasteners Using a Customized Representation

You can use Customized Visualization to customize the way you want to visualize the fasteners. You can choose a combination of symbols that you want to apply to all or to a selection of fasteners.


Before you begin: Specify the visualization of the 3D graphic symbol in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > Multi Discipline Engineering > Fastening > Display.

Customization of the Fst_Standard File
  1. From the Fastener section of the action bar, click Customized Visualization .
  2. Select the fastener instances whose visualization mode you want to change.
    The Customized Visualization dialog box displays the list of selected fasteners. The selected fasteners are highlighted in the work area.

    Tips:
    • To select all the fasteners in session, click Select All Fasteners in Session .
    • To remove a fastener from the list, click Remove Fastener .
    Visualization modes are all available for modification.

  3. Optional: To optimize the selection:

    • Select multiple fasteners by clicking Selection Wizard . The capability applies to legacy fasteners and fasteners created starting from 2022x.
    • Select all the fasteners in your app session by clicking Select All Fasteners in Session . The capability applies to legacy fasteners and fasteners created in this release.
    • Select the bundle to restrict the selection of fasteners to those included in the bundle.
    • Remove fasteners from the selection by clicking Remove Fastener .
      Tips:
      • For an adjacent selection, press SHIFT.
      • For random selection, press CTRL.

  4. Select the options of your choice:
    • 3D Point
    • Axis
    • K Vector
    • Technological
    • Simple Bead Fasteners: Applies to legacy simple bead fasteners and simple bead fasteners created starting from 2022x.

      In the following example, a yellow curve represents the simple bead fastener in the 3D area.

      Note: You can customize this color in the Fst_Standard.txt file. For more information, see Customization of the Fst_Standard File.

  5. Optional: Click Preview.
  6. To make this visualization permanent, click OK.
