Extrapolating Curves

You can increase or decrease the length of a curve or of a surface boundary.

Before you begin: Open an existing 3D shape containing a curve.
  1. Click the end of the curve to be extrapolated.

The curve is always extrapolated at the endpoint closest to the selection point.

  2. In the Type area, select Tangential and then specify the length of the extrapolated shape by doing one of the following:
    • Drag the handle.

Right-click the handle and select Edit to edit the position of the handle or Keep this point to keep a record of its position.

    • Enter a Length value.
Note: If you enter a negative value, the resulting curve is created in the other direction.
The extrapolated shape is shown and the length of the extended curve is displayed.
  3. Click OK.
