Analyzing Using Environment Mapping

To help you visualize your shapes in different environments, the Environment Mapping Analysis allows you to project the reflection of an image onto the surface of your shapes.

Before you begin: Open an existing 3D shape. Do one or both of the following:
  • From the View section of the action bar, click Customize View, then click Material.
  • Select No warning message if material mode is not ON in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Styling > FreeStyle Shape Design, General tab, Mapping Analysis option section.
  1. To define the image to use for mapping, do one of the following:
    • Select one of the predefined images in the Image Definition list.
    • Click and select an image using the Image Chooser dialog box (file types permitted: bmp, jpg, rgb, tif).
  2. Select one or more surfaces of your shape.
The reflection of the image is projected onto the selected surfaces.
  3. In the Options area, specify the Reflectivity value to define the transparency of the texture.
The reflection of the image is updated as you move the slider.
  4. Click OK
