Creating a Line Up to an Element

Line lets you create a line up to a point, a curve, or a surface.

Note: It is available with all line types, but the Tangent to curve type.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Create a 3D shape containing geometric elements.

Create a Line up to a Point

You can create a line up to a point.

Select a point in the Line End Up-to Element and/or Point Offset Up-to Element boxes.

Create a Line up to a Curve

You can create a line up to a curve.

Select a curve in the Point 1 Up-to Element and/or Point 2 Up-to Element boxes.

Create a Line up to a Surface

You can create a line up to a surface.

Select a surface in the Line End Up-to Element and/or Point Offset Up-to Element boxes.

Note:
  • If the selected Up-to element does not intersect with the line being created, an extrapolation is performed. It is only possible if the element is linear and lies on the same plane as the line being created. No extrapolation is performed if the Up-to element is a curve or a surface.
  • The start and end Up-to Element boxes are dimmed with the legth type, the start Up-to Element box is dimmed with , and the end Up-to Element box is dimmed with .
  • The start Up-to Element box is dimmed if Mirrored extent is selected.
  • In the case of the Point-Point line type, start and end values cannot be negative.
