Deforming Multiple Surfaces Using Control Points

You can deform two or more surfaces in a single operation.

This task shows you how to:

Deform without Guides

  1. From the Edition section of the action bar, click Global Deformation .
  2. Select multiple surfaces to be deformed.
  3. Click Intermediate surface use .
    An intermediate surface representing the bounding box is displayed.

  4. Click Run.
  5. Deform the intermediate surface by modifying the control points using the handles.
    All surfaces are automatically and dynamically deformed according to the intermediate surface deformation.

  6. Click OK in the Control Points dialog box.



Deform with Guides

  1. Select multiple surfaces to be deformed.
  2. In the guides area, select 1 guide.
  3. Click Run.
  4. Select a guide surface.

    Note: The guide surface must not belong to the selected surfaces to be deformed.

  5. Deform the intermediate surface by modifying the control points using the handles.
    The deformation is performed along the selected guide.

  6. Click OK in the Control Points dialog box.
  7. Close the 3D shape and reopen it.
  8. Select the surfaces to be deformed.
  9. In the guides area, select 2 guides.
  10. Optional: Select Continuities on guide to keep the continuities on the selected guide.

    When globally deforming trimmed surfaces, make sure that you check the continuities between the faces. Depending on the geometrical configuration, continuities set may be lost when deforming.



  11. Click Run.
  12. Select two guide surfaces.
  13. Deform the intermediate surface by modifying the control points using the handles.
    The deformation is performed along the selected guides.
  14. Click OK in the Control Points dialog box.
