3D Tolerancing & Annotation

The 3D Tolerancing & Annotation enables you to specify 3D tolerance specifications and annotations directly on 3D Shapes or between 3D Shape elements except the polyhedral data, and handle them accordingly.

The intuitive interface of 3D Tolerancing & Annotation provides an ideal solution for new app customers in small and medium-size industries that look to minimize the reliance on 2D drawings, and increase the use of 3D as the primary representation from design to manufacturing engineering processes.

Using 3D Tolerancing & Annotation app, you can:

  • Select the surfaces to be assigned tolerances.
  • Pick among a wide range of options consistent with the selected surfaces, the tolerance types, the modifiers.
  • Specify a tolerance value along with a tolerance annotation that is created and displayed around the 3D geometry— located and oriented within an annotation plane— using a standardized model (ISO, ASME/ANSI standards).

Note that geometrical tolerances require that specific options be selected in addition of the numerical display. For more information, see Tolerances options.

Annotations in 3D Tolerancing & Annotation can be extracted using the annotation plane concept in the Drafting app.

Designers do not need to be tolerancing experts who handle complex tolerancing rules as the system ensures that the tolerancing syntax directly elaborated with respect to the chosen tolerancing standards (ISO, ASME/ANSI) is correct. The tolerancing schema and specifications remain consistent with the 3D shape geometry regardless the geometrical modifications performed.
