Managing Invalid Annotations

Repair/Delete Invalid FTA Features lets you repair or delete the invalid 3D Tolerancing & Annotation features with the broken geometrical links. You can also hide the unrepairable invalid annotations.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Open an existing 3D shape representation.

Repair or Delete Invalid Annotations

Repair/Delete Invalid FTA Features lets you repair and delete the invalid 3D Tolerancing & Annotation features with the broken geometrical links.

  1. Select any of the following options:
    You can select multiple options.
    • Repair User Surface features which have at least 1 connected Geometric Component feature: Deletes all the broken links if the user surface feature has at least one connected geometric component feature. Thus, the user surface feature becomes valid.
    • Repair Group of Surfaces features which have at least 2 valid components: Deletes all the links to the invalid components if the group of surfaces feature has at least two valid components. Thus, the feature becomes valid.
    • Delete invalid FTA features which have all their geometrical links broken: Deletes the 3D Tolerancing & Annotation features that have all geometric links broken.
    • Delete invalid FTA features which have at least 1 broken geometrical link: Deletes the 3D Tolerancing & Annotation features that have at least one broken geometrical link.
    • Delete all invalid FTA features: Deletes all the invalid 3D Tolerancing & Annotation features.
  2. Click OK.
The broken geometrical connections are either repaired or deleted based on the options selected.
    Important:
    • If you select multiple options, the system performs the operation on all the 3D Tolerancing & Annotation features as per the order the options appear in the dialog box.
    • Only one operation is performed at a time.
    • When any view or capture is empty (there are no annotation is available in that view or capture), it will be deleted.
    • When the reference geometry of any annotation from the component family is not available (inactive, hidden, deleted, etc.), such annotation is considered as invalid and is deleted. You can use Elements' Analysis to analyze the various annotations.

Hide Unrepairable Invalid Annotations

You can temporarily hide the unrepairable invalid annotations.

Before you begin: Clear the Disable hide invalid unrepairable annotations check box under Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Mechanical Systems > 3D Tolerancing & Annotation > Administration > Annotation Set.
  1. In the tree, right-click the annotation set node, and select Annotation Set.x Object > Hide invalid unrepairable annotations.
    • The invalid unrepairable annotations are hidden.
    • A mask appears on the annotation set node.
  2. To display the hidden invalid unrepairable annotations, right-click the annotation set node and select Annotation Set.x Object > Exit hide invalid unrepairable annotations.
    • The invalid unrepairable annotations are displayed in the 3D area.
    • A mask on the annotation set node is removed.
