Generating and Validating Tolerances

Tolerancing Generation lets you automatically generate the semantic annotations and geometrical tolerances for the feature, and update the same for existing toleranced feature.

Before you begin: Create a mechanical junction.
    • The tolerancing schema is automatically generated based on the following:
      • The characteristics of the mechanical junctions and functional surfaces
      • The representation style and the tolerance value parameters specified in the Generation section.
    • A short report in a tooltip indicates the numbers for below annotations:
      • Annotations that are created
      • Annotations that are updated
      • Annotations that are relevant for the generation and are not modified
      • Annotations that are not relevant for the generation and are not modified
    • The following geometrical specifications are created or updated:
      • Tolerancing schema with respect to primary, secondary, and tertiary geometries of mechanical junction.
      • Tolerancing schema for the geometry maintained in position in the mechanical junction. If the geometry maintained in position is a feature of size, the size tolerances are also generated.
      • Tolerancing schema for the mechanical junction and the functional surface positioning constraints according to the entity specifies as a reference.
    • A capture is created for each mechanical junction and functional surface. It displays all the annotations which are applied to the geometric features that define the mechanical junctions and the functional surfaces. It also displays all the datum features of the datum systems which are used to tolerance the features.
  1. To validate the generated tolerance value, select it, and then click Validate Tolerance Value on the context toolbar.

You can also right-click the annotation, select Properties, and then in the Manufacturing tab, select the Validate Tolerance Value check box.

Tip: To display all the non-validated tolerance annotations, right-click the annotation set node in the tree and select Show non-validated tolerance annotations . Only the non-validated tolerances are displayed hiding all the validated ones.

A tooltip appears to display the number of annotations that are non-validated and hidden.
