Creating Framed Basic Dimensions

Framed (Basic) Dimension lets you create the framed basic dimensions manually and automatically.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Open an existing 3D shape.

Create Framed (Basic) Dimensions Manually

  1. Select the required context.

You can select partial surfaces, datum targets, datum reference frames, and geometrical tolerances (position, angularity, surface profile, and line profile).

  2. Select the required dimensions.

The dimensions are converted into basic dimensions.

  3. In the Framed (Basic) Dimensions Management dialog box, click Start creation mode and select the required context to create the framed basic dimensions.
  4. Click in the 3D area to validate the dimensions and End creation mode to end the creation process.

Create Framed (Basic) Dimensions Automatically

  1. Select the required context.

You can select datum reference frames and geometrical tolerances (position, angularity, surface profile, and line profile). You can also select localized geometrical tolerance without datum reference frame applied to a circular or rectangular pattern of cylindrical features and constructed geometries for thread representations.

  2. In the Framed (Basic) Dimensions Management dialog box, click Automatic Creation.
Framed (basic) dimensions are created with their related construction geometries.
