About Annotations in Representation

Annotations for any representation are created in the Annotation Set.

Annotations can be linked with geometrical elements within the representation they belong to or they can be linked with geometrical elements that belong to another 3D part or 3D shape representation.

This page discusses:

Annotation Display

Only annotations that belong to the active part representation or to a shape representation are visible and can be edited.

If a product is active, no annotations are displayed regardless annotations that can appear in a representation node.

Important:

In the tree, the Annotation Set icon indicates the visibility status:

  • indicates that the annotations are visible.
  • indicates that the annotations are not visible.

When you select any annotation created on an assembly which is an authoring context and currently in design mode, the following are highlighted in the 3D area:

  • The selected annotation and corresponding node under annotation set
  • Geometries on which the selected annotation is created
  • Respective geometry nodes in the tree
  • Respective engineering connections under the Engineering Connections node
  • Corresponding external references, if any

Annotation into Parts/Shapes

If you work in an active 3D part representation, you can assign annotations to geometrical elements underneath that representation.

Annotations appear under the Annotation Set in the tree, below the representation node.

Annotation between Parts/Shapes

You can create annotations between part representations.

Annotations appear under the Annotation Set in the tree, below the active representation node.
