Creating Note Object Attribute From a Detail/Ditto

You can create a Note Object Attribute which contains a detail or a ditto.

  • A detail is a set of 2D elements, including 2D annotations, defined in a drawing detail sheet.
  • A ditto is detail instantiated in a drawing sheet.
Important:
  • Colors defined in a 2D component are not driven by the annotation set standard, and are kept as is when you extract this annotation in 2D.
  • Two behaviors of Note Object Attribute created from a 2D component are available from the Stick Ditto perpendicularly to geometry option in the Note Object Attribute Reference dialog box:
    • Cleared, the 2D component is instantiated with a frame and a leader.
    • Selected, the 2D component is instantiated without frame or leader and its origin point is stuck and set on the selected geometry. Its normal is defined by the V axis of the 2D component.

Before you begin: Open an existing 3D shape.

How to place ditto NOAs with the option Stick Ditto perpendicularly to geometry at the right position in 3D
  1. From the Template section of the action bar, Click Note Object Attribute .

To make the Template section available, ensure that you clear the Disable template creation check box under Annotation Set, available in Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Mechanical Systems > 3D Tolerancing & Annotation > Administration section.

Restart the session after clearing the check box to take the changes into account.

  2. Select the surface on the part.

The Note Object Attribute Reference dialog box appears.

    Important:

This scenario illustrates the creation of a note object attribute by selecting geometry, but you can also select any Part Design or Generative Shape Design feature in the tree. In this case, the created annotation will not be attached to the selected feature, but to its geometrical elements at the highest level.

  3. Select Ditto in the Graphical representation and enter the following information:

Type of Noa: Note Object Annotation from a 2D Component.

  4. Click Select an external detail and select the detail feature in a drawing representation.
The Preview displays the selected detail representation.
  5. Click OK.
The Note Object Attribute is created.

The Note object Attribute default name in the tree is retrieved from its type.

    Important:

Modifying the type name does not modify the feature name.

    To modify the feature name:

    • Right-click the name and select Properties....
    • In the Feature Properties tab, modify the Feature Name.

  6. Optional: Modify the text in the 2D component.
The text in the note object attribute is updated automatically.
    Important:
    • The note object attribute is updated only when the 2D component created in the 2D Layout for 3D Design app lies under the same 3D shape representation.
    • For the 2D component created in the Drafting app, you must synchronize the link. To do so,
      1. From the Tools section of the action bar, click Links & Relations... .
      2. In the Edit Links & Relations dialog box, select the related 2D component and click Synchronize link.
    • A text in a 2D component can be edited in 3D Tolerancing & Annotation context if it has been set as Modifiable in instance in Drawing context.
  7. Optional: To remove the reference dittos or details of the NOAs, right-click the annotation set and select Isolate NOAs.

To create the NOAs with no link to the dittos or details, select the Isolate the ditto/detail check box under Note Object Attribute, available in the Me > Preferences > App Preferences > 3D Modeling > Mechanical Systems > 3D Tolerancing & Annotation > Tolerancing tab.

Note: If there are several NOAs referencing the same ditto or detail, isolating any one of the NOAs isolates all of them.
