Opening the Precise BOM

The precise BOM (PBOM) for the selected product configuration is available only for valid product configurations. If a model version is added as a logical feature, then its top level GBOM items are shown in the PBOM, based on the effectivity expressions. If the model version is added as a GBOM item, then only the model version is shown in the PBOM and not its GBOM items.

When you view the Precise BOM page, Variant Management generates a real-time view of the PBOM. This view is updated anytime you open the page until you explicitly create the PBOM from the Properties page of the product configuration (see Product Configuration Properties Page. After you generate the PBOM, this page shows the persisted version.

The product configuration must reach the Active lifecycle state before you can generate a persisted PBOM, but you can view the real-time view whenever you need to.

  1. Open the required product configuration. See Opening a Product Configuration.
  2. Click Precise BOM in the navigation pane.

Column Name Description
Name The name of the part or model version. Click to view the Properties page for that object.
Revision The part or model version's revision number or code.
Type The type or subtype of the part or model version.
Description The details about the part or model version.
State The current state of the part or model version in its lifecycle.
F/N The find number is an id that is used on drawings as bubble call outs. Find numbers are usually integer values: 1,2,3,...
Quantity The quantity of the part or model version included in the model version or feature.
Owner The person responsible for the part or model version.
Level The level of this part or model version in the hierarchical BOM
