Coloring a Block Model

You can color blocks in a block model by attribute values.


Before you begin:
  • Define a palette and a semantic dictionary Geoscience Resource table in Data Setup.
  • Import and open a block model file.

Context Menus
  1. Specify the working context by double-clicking the 3D shape under the product in the tree.
    The UI-activated object (3D shape) appears highlighted in blue. You can now work in the context of the 3d shape.
  2. In the tree or in the work area, select a block model representation.
  3. From the Earth Model section of the action bar, click Color Block Model . Alternatively, right-click a block model, and select Color Block Model.
  4. In the Color Blocks dialog box, choose from the following:

    Color by Attribute Lets you apply a color on a block with respect to a specific attribute value. The color is applied to blocks as per the attribute values specified in the palette in Data Setup.
    Solid Color By default, this option is selected with the Render Occluded blocks. No color is applied to the block. Use this option to reset the block color.
  5. To display the color legend, select the Display legend check box.

    The legend displays the range of values associated with the block model attribute you selected (can be any numerical or alpha-numerical attribute defined in the block model.)

    Important: The color is specified by the palette defined in Data Setup.

  6. Click Ok.
    The blocks are colored with respect to their attribute values.

  7. Optional: From the Tools section of the action bar, click .

    Note: Clipping supports block model objects.
