Creating a Block Model's Skin

You can generate a a geotechnical surface based on a filtered block model for sharing resource model and mine design-related information with all personnel involved in the block model lifecycle.

Before you begin:
  • Ensure that the block model is defined in large range at most. For more information, see Design Range Management.
  • Define a semantic dictionary Geoscience Resource table in Data Setup.
  • Import and open a block model file.
  • Create a 3D shape under the product.
  • Create a geoscience filter.

Creating a Geoscience Filter
  1. Specify the working context by double-clicking the 3D shape under the product in the tree.
The UI-activated object (3D shape) appears highlighted in blue. You can now work in the context of the 3d shape.
  2. From the Earth Model section of the action bar, click Create Block Model Skin .
  3. In the tree or in the work area, select a block model representation.
  4. In the tree, select a filter specification; that is, any geoscience filter you previously created.

The generated geotechnical surface is saved in a 3D shape based on a filtered block model for extracting geometric data within a polyhedral mesh.
