Creating a Pit Feature

Pit enables you to create a pit according to the number of benches and the distance between each bench.

  1. Specify the working context by double-clicking the 3d shape under the surface mine in the tree.
The UI-activated object (3d shape) appears highlighted in blue. You can now work in the context of the 3d shape.
  2. In the tree or in the work area, select the ultimate bottom plane of the pit.
  3. Specify the default value of the bench height.
  4. Determine the number of benches. From the Bench Creation options, select one of the following:
    OptionDescription
Number of Benches Lets you enter the number of benches manually.

By default, this option is selected.

    Up to Terrain

Lets you select a terrain (surface) and fills-out the number of benches automatically.

The value is associated with the terrain (surface) you selected. When the pit is processed, it will reach the terrain even if the optimized pit shell is not high enough to reach the terrain

  5. From the Naming options, select one of the following:
    OptionDescription
    Elevation

Applies the bench elevation value, a computed distance that is:

    • For benches, the distance between the last bench support and the crest contour.
    • For bench supports, the distance between the plane of the last bench support and the current plane support.

By default, this option is selected.

Standard Applies an incremental value to each bench and bench support name.

The bench support planes are created accordingly. They work as reference planes to represent the contours of the toes and crests of the pit phase you envision.
