Adding a Geolocated Point

Adding a geolocated point involves entering the coordinates of this point to position it in the target product. You can create a geolocated point in a geolocated 3D part or in a 3D part that is not yet geolocated.

Before you begin: Either a Civil Engineering 3D Design or Terrain Preparation session must be opened.
  1. From the section of the action bar, click Geolocated point .
  2. If the parent 3D part is not geolocated or if geolocation is not active, click Yes in the information message that appears.
Geolocation is added and or activated on the parent 3D part and the Geolocated Point dialog appears.
  3. To create the geolocated point, do one of the following:
    • Enter the coordinates of the geolocated point in Easting and Northing boxes.
    • Click the globe icon and enter the coordinates of the geolocated point in the Longitude and Latitude boxes.
    • Pick any point in the scene from a terrain or a structural element.

Equivalent coordinates expressed in geodetic latitude and longitude (first case) and equivalent projected coordinates (second case) are reflected accordingly in the dialog box.

Note: It is not required to specify geolocation on all the objects of an assembly to calculate their exact positioning. You can only add geolocation on their direct father product or on the upper elements in the product structure. Especially, geolocating the top level object in the product structure opened in session is enough. With BI Geolocation, you can check if geolocation for the element is correct and optionally retrieve it from parent/children product (s). As geolocation modifies the positioning matrix of objects, an error may occur when you define a positioning and then a geolocation on an object.
  4. Optional: Click to display the CRS information.
  5. Click OK.
The geolocated point is created and can be edited further.
