About Block Model Objects

Before starting with Pit Optimization, you must specify the data to work on. You can either create a block model in a session or import it.

To import a block model object in the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform, first create a physical product to host the block model data. As with other representations, the block model representation is attached to a product, and a product can contain several block model representations.

Importing a block model object creates automatically an alternative representation of geometries (regular blocks of equal dimensions) that contain point clouds and associated properties. A block model is traditionally generated from boreholes using advanced modeling techniques. Here is a typical representation of a geological model consisting of blocks:

A block model is a voxel model that stores a collection of attributes at each node within the 3D array or coordinates. A block model attribute is a property that is stored for each block within the block model.

Each block within a block model has several attributes. Here is an illustration of a subset of attributes for a block:

The attributes of a block model are defined in a csv file, where for example:

• : each row is a block.
• : each column is an attribute.

These numeric or character string values are defined in the Geoscience Resources table in Data Setup. For more information, see some typical examples of a palette and a semantic dictionary (csv files) provided in Geoscience Resources.

By default, The orientation of the block model representation is specified by the local reference systems (CRS).

You can export the block model information in text reports. .
