Geoscience Dataset Terms

The Geoscience dataset (GDS) uses a set of filters to define a group of boreholes. Boreholes are planned for, drilled, measured, updated, and consumed in groups. You can use a GDS as an input to multiple processes involving multiple roles and applications.

Components of Geoscience Dataset

A GDS contains two components: a query and a result set. A query is a set of constraints that is performed to give a resultant dataset. Typically, you can use the query as an input and define it according to your requirements. A result set is the output of a query execution that is a collection of references corresponding to all boreholes within the GDS.

Term Description
Query A set of filters that define the result of the Geoscience dataset.
Result set The set of applicable boreholes resulting from the query associated with the Geoscience dataset.
Geoscience Survey Service The data repository that stores all attribute information required to conduct Geoscience dataset requests.
Geology Modeler role The role that grants you access to create, iterate, and share GDS. Some users of the Geoscience Survey Service are granted this role. A user with the role:
  • Has unrestricted access to boreholes and attributes.
  • Creates GDS artefacts.
  • Allocates access to self-created GDS and those shared with them.
