Creating a Shape From the Shape Optimization Result

You can convert the finite element representation of the selected optimized shape and iso-surface to a 3D solid model. You can also adjust the relative element density and select the finite element representation of the concept shape.

Note: You cannot generate a new solid shape for a failed or ended execution of the Compute Shape process for the finite element representation.

Before you begin: Open the Shape Optimization assistant.

About Concept Shapes
  1. From the Concept section, select Concept generation.
Functional Generative Design displays a finite element representation of the optimized shape.
  2. Enter a name for the concept shape.
  3. Select Targeted number of faces and define the number of faces for the concept shape.

The result may be an approaching number.

  4. Click Generate.
