Creating a Front View

Front View lets you create a front view of a 3D part using a reference plane.


Before you begin:

  • Open a 3D part representation.
  • Create a new drawing.

  1. Create a front view using either of the following types:

    TypeEssentials
    Front view with a local axis systemSelect a local axis system.
    Front view from specific sub-bodies/sub-productsSelect one body, or press Ctrl + multi-select the elements in the tree.
    Front view using selection sets

    1. Activate the 3D shape representation.
    2. From the Tools section of the action bar, click Selection Sets... .
    3. In the Selection Sets Selection dialog box, select a set and click Select.

  2. To define the reference plane, select either of the following:
    • A plane of the 3D part or a planar surface
    • Two edges
    • A point and an edge or vice-versa, two points and an edge, or three points
    The front view is previewed.
  3. Optional: Modify the orientation using the view orientation manipulator.
  4. Click in the sheet to generate the view.
