Workflow

This workflow describes how to create a drawing representation of a product, a sub-assembly, or a part using Drafting.

This task shows you how to:

Create the Drawing

Before you begin: Open a 3D part representation.
  1. From the Compass, click Drafting.
  2. In the drawing sheet, create a frame and title block.

    You can also create a customized frame and title block. See Working with Frame and Title Block.

  3. Generate the front view and the required projection views. See Creating a Front View and Creating a Projection View.

    You can also generate section views, details views, clipping views, broken or breakout views, and 3D clippings if required. See Creating Views.

  4. Optional: Create the required 2D geometries. See Creating 2D Geometry.

    You can also modify them. See Modifying 2D Geometry.

  5. Optional: Customize the view content as required.

    You can overload element properties, copy view format, manage graphical properties, and so on. See Customizing View Content.

  6. Optional: Modify the view characteristics.

    You can modify links of a view, modify view projection plane, and propagate view modifications. See Modifying Views.

  7. Update the sheets and drawings using batch monitor. See Managing View Update.
  8. Add the required annotations such as texts, tables, labels, balloons, bill of materials, dimensions, tolerances, symbols and welds. See Working with Annotations.
  9. Create a detail sheet.
