Navigating Your Experience

You can use the mouse or the localisator to navigate the view.

This task shows you how to:

Use Mouse Interactions

You can perform basic viewing operations to navigate the urban environment using mouse interactions.

Use the mouse as follows:

Mouse Button Purpose Description
Zoom in or out Scroll the mouse wheel forward or backward to zoom in or out progressively.
Pan horizontally or vertically Left click + drag the pointer in the chosen direction.
Center on selection Click the middle mouse button or scroll the mouse wheel to center the screen on the selected location.

Note that this mouse interaction cannot be used with measure commands.
Rotate Right-click + drag in the chosen direction.

Use the Localisator

You can use a dedicated tool to quickly move in any direction or zoom on elements.

Use the localisator tools to navigate in your experience.

Tool Action


This tool represents a compass with its four cardinal directions North (N), East (E), South (S), and West (W), The North direction is displayed in red on the needle.

On mouse over, the cursor shape changes to . You can then:

  • Drag your mouse around the circle to change the orientation: you can tilt the scene or rotate it to look around.
  • Click once to aim the camera to the north (and keep the inclined view).
  • Double-click to aim to the north while putting the camera along the vertical view axis.
  • Click the circle to turn about the object.

Tip: Double-clicking the needle automatically displays the scene's top view.
Drag the slider up to zoom in or down to zoom out.


Drag the pan controller up, down, left or right arrow to move in the corresponding direction.

The farther you drag from the initial point, the faster the move.

Shift Hold Shift to temporarily speed up the movement.

Move to the Initial Viewpoint

You can go back to the initial viewpoint defined in the current experience.

  1. Move the camera to change the viewpoint.
  2. From the action bar, click Move to Home Viewpoint .
    The camera moves to the viewpoint that has been initially defined in the experience.
