Installing Planets Studio

Before deploying and using Planets Studio, you must configure your installation.

  1. On a shared server, create a directory (for example InstallDir).
  2. Download the PlanetData media to the directory.

    Notes:
    • The media contains all the planetary data needed for the installation.
    • The media requires a minimum of 200 GB of free disk space.

  3. Extract the .zip media files to the directory, combining their contents.

    Important: You must use the Extract Here functionality to extract all of the compressed files to the current directory.

    Here is an example of extraction directory:

  4. Install and run Planets Studio.

    A message appears to inform you that planetary data is missing.

  5. From the top bar, click Me > Preferences > Interactive Experience > Planets Studio.
  6. Do the following:
    1. Select the file system mode.
    2. Enter the path of the InstallDir directory.
    3. Click OK.
  7. Check that all Earth's continents appear on the screen and close the app.
  8. Do the following:
    1. Go to C:\Users\<AdminName>\AppData\Roaming\DassaultSystemes\CATSettings\R420\Authoring.
    2. Copy the GlobeEngineSettings.CATSettings file to each computer that will use Planets Studio.
  9. Check on another computer that Planets Studio runs without displaying the error message and that all Earth's continents appear on the screen.
