Creating a Bead

Bead lets you create a bead, in order to add strength to a 3D shape. The created bead shape is a triangle shape.

Before you begin:

Create a 3D shape containing a surface and a point lying on the sharp edge of the surface.

  1. In the Base surface box, select the surface.

    Important:
    • The base surface must have at least one internal sharp edge.
    • Select the Base surface relimitation check box to trim the base surface with the bead shape.

  2. In the Location point box, select a point on the sharp edge of the surface.
  3. In the Reference direction box, select a reference direction.

By default, it is the tangent direction to the location edge at the location point.

    Important:
    • The Reference Element maintains the orientation of the bead, if the location point of the bead changes from one edge to an adjacent edge.
    • You can also right-click the Reference Element box and select the following items from the context menu:
      • Clear Selection: if you do not want to specify any reference element.
      • Default Selection: if you want to select the default element.
  4. Define the bead parameters by clicking the value to edit in the dialog box or by clicking the handles in the 3D geometry.
  5. Click OK to create the bead.
