Deforming Elements According to Surface Wrapping

Wrap Surface lets you deform elements, on the basis of the deformation on the projection of the element to be deformed onto two definition surfaces.

Before you begin:

Create a 3D shape containing three surfaces.

  1. In the Element to deform box, select the curve or the surface to deform.
  2. In the Reference surface box, select the reference surface.
  3. In the Target surface box, select the surface on which the deformed surface will wrap.
  4. Select the Wrap type.
  5. Click OK. The element to deform is put in no show mode.

Important:
  • When the definition surfaces (reference or target surface) are too short to allow the projection of the element to deform, these surfaces are automatically extrapolated providing they are mono-cell.
  • The size of the deformed element may not be identical to that of element to be deformed.
  • The reference and target surfaces must be made up mono-cell elements for the 3D and Normal types, however they can be made up of multi-cell elements for the With direction type.
