Navigating Through the Feature Structure and Editing Parameters

Using navigation and edition suggestions, you can:

  • See the parents and children of the selected feature and select them to see their parents and children.
  • See the list of features which modify the current cell, from the initial feature which created it to the last feature which contains the final cell, and select it as current.
  • Display a hidden feature in the work area by dragging the pointer over it in the tree or over its indicator.
  • Reuse the current feature by launching another command during navigation or by executing the Navigation command during another command.
  • Edit the current feature using the context menu or double-clicking it.

Navigate through the Feature Structure

You can navigate though the feature structure and cell modifications history, display and select parent and child elements of features as well as temporarily display hidden or absorbed features.

  1. Select an element and click Navigate and edit parameters in the context toolbar.

    An indicator appears on the element in the work area.

    Two further indicators appear and can be expanded to show the parents and children of the element.



  2. In the Parent indicator, select a parent feature of the selected element.
    The parent feature is now the current feature. Indicators and handles are updated accordingly.



  3. Double-click on the Parents or Children indicator.
    The indicator disappears and the feature structure is displayed in the work area with labels on the linked elements.



  4. Double-click a parent or child label to return to the indicator display.
  5. Click the arrow below the indicator.
    A frame is expanded containing the following options:
    Parents
    Displays the geometry of the selected feature's parents in the work area.
    Children
    Displays the geometry of selected feature's children.
    Current
    Displays the geometry of the selected feature.
    Context
    Displays a shaded view of the part with the selected feature.
    Edit parameters
    Displays the ruler and the Robot for editing parameters.
    The most appropriate feature parameter is searched. If this parameter is not found, all parameters of the feature are displayed.
    If the extrusion top edge is selected, Lim1 parameter is edited. In case of indetermination, all parameters are displayed.
  6. To exit the Navigation command and validate the parameters click or if the parameter setting shall be canceled.
    Note: Click Cancel to exit the Navigation without validating the parameters. This icon is only available Edit parameters option is selected.
  7. Double-click the Current area on the indicator.
    The dialog box of the feature command opens and you can edit the feature's parameters.

Edit Parameters using Edition Suggestions

You can use suggestions for the parametric edition of features.

When selecting a geometric element, the most appropriate feature parameters are provided in the model history and can be used to edit the current selection.

The edition suggestion capabilities are available when using:

  • the Navigate and edit parameters command in the context toolbar or
  • the Robot and Local mode commands in the context toolbar.

  1. Select a feature in the work area and click Navigate and edit parameters in the context toolbar.
    If edition suggestions are available, the Parametric edition suggestions icon appears on the right side of the work area.
  2. Click Parametric edition suggestions
    The Parametric edition suggestions dialog box appears listing all appropriate features and the parameters which will be edited.
  3. Select a feature in the list.
    The selected feature becomes the current feature and a magenta wireframe displays the impact of the modification.



    Tip: You can edit the parameters using the ruler or the Robot.
