Placing Standard Components

Standard Instantiation lets you select the components and place them at the required locations, using the Robot.

This task shows you how to:

Place a Single Component

  1. In the Reference box, select a component.
  2. In the Target box, select a surface to position the component.
    The Robot appears.
  3. Optional: Select the As Reference check box to duplicate the reference of a selected positioned part.
    The Public Parameters area displays all the public parameters. You can change the values of the parameters.
  4. Optional: Under Placement Information, select the required options.
    • Select the Create Engineering Connection check box to create engineering connections between the standard positioned part and the host part.
    • From the Axis list, select the required axis system for positioning standard component.

      The corresponding host type (Surface) is selected in the Host box.

    • Click or to change the direction and angle of the component on the surface.
  5. Drag the component using the Robot.
    Notes:
    • You can rotate the component using the Robot.
    • If the snapping planes are defined in the component, while positioning, the component gets snapped to the nearest Space Referential planes and snapping planes of the other components.

Place Multiple Components

  1. In the Reference box, select a component.
  2. Ctrl + select a surface to position the component.
    The Robot appears with the Paste Preference command.
  3. Specify the number of instances or references.
    1. Click Paste Preference.
    2. Select As new instance or As new reference.
    3. In the Count box, enter the required number.
  4. Drag the components using the Robot.
    The distance between two components is displayed while moving the Robot.
    Notes: You can:
    • Rotate the components using the Robot.
    • Double-click the ruler value and specify the required distance or angle.
