Connecting Ducts

You can connect two ducts through a stand-alone junction symbol with a connection point.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: For this scenario, open an existing diagram view containing:
  • Some equipment
  • Each equipment is connected by a duct, which has its other end that ends in space.

Connect Two Routes Using the Create Route Command

  1. Hover the cursor over the first duct.
    A label appears on the unconnected end of the duct.
  2. Click the label.

    Note: When you hover the cursor over the label, it expands to display the name of the duct.

    The routing starts from the end of the selected duct.
  3. Hover the cursor over the second pipe and click the label.
    The two ducts are connected. The connected routes appear as one route since the junction symbol is hidden.
    Note: To display the two ducts separately, click one of the ducts.

Connect Two Routes Using the Extend Command

  1. Click one of the ducts and click Extend Route .
  2. Hover the cursor over the second pipe and click the label.
    The two ducts are connected.
    Note: To display the two ducts separately, click one of the ducts.

Connect Two Routes Using the Connect Command

  1. From the Layout section of the action bar, click Connect Symbols .
  2. Click the two pipes to be connected.
