Creating a Schematic Zone

You can create a schematic zone.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: Create a system containing a diagram view.

Assign your resources

  1. In Data Setup, create a new resource set in Diagram Resources.
  2. In the Zone Names resource, assign the sheet defining the list of possible schematic zone names. For each zone, a description can be added. You can also create zone hierarchy by defining a parent zone (Column C).
  3. Set the following parameters:
    • In the Zone Category box, enter the name of the schematic zone category.
    • In the Reading Direction list, select the reading direction for the category.
  4. Associate your resource with a project.
  5. Click Close.
  6. Click Yes.

Create your schematic zone

You can create a schematic zone.

  1. Double-click the diagram view.
  2. From the Layout section of the action bar, click Create Zone .
  3. Click in the diagram view to define the starting point of your zone.
  4. In the context toolbar, select one of the following options:
    • Lines : creates a zone as a polyline shape.
    • Rectangle : creates a zone as a rectangle shape.
  5. According to the option selected, perform the following actions:
    OptionDelimiting the zone
    Lines Click the diagram view to place all the points delimiting the zone, and then press the Enter key.
    Rectangle Enlarge the geometry to create your zone, and then click.
  6. Select the desired category from the Zone category list.
  7. In the Zone name list, select the desired zone.
