Creating an Equipment Reference

You can create an equipment reference and instance it in the tree all at once.

When you create equipment, you can define a symbol representation of the component in the Data Setup and insert it in a diagram view. If no representation is found for this equipment, a representation is searched among its fathers.

Before you begin:
  • Create a logical reference (Electrical System) under the Logical node.
  • Optional: Define an Equipment symbol representation in Data Setup.
  • Optional: Create a diagram view under the logical reference (Electrical System).

In this scenario, you can define a symbol representation in the Data Setup app and insert it in a diagram view.

  1. Activate the diagram view.
  2. From the Edition section of the action bar, click Create New Reference .
  3. In the New Content dialog box, expand the Equipment Logical tab, and then right-click Equipment.
  4. Optional: Select the Set attributes at creation option.

Note: This option remains selected when creating the same type of component.

  5. Click Equipment.
  6. In the Equipment dialog box, enter a name, and then click OK.
The equipment reference is created and instantiated in the tree.

The equipment symbol appears in the diagram view and follows your pointer.
  7. Click the diagram view at the convenient place to insert the symbol.
The symbol is placed and a context toolbar appears.
  8. Optional: To modify the position of the symbol, select one of the following commands:
    • Flip horizontally
    • Flip vertically
    • Rotate to left by 90 degrees
    • Rotate to right by 90 degrees
  9. Click the diagram view to validate the creation.

The symbol is inserted in the diagram view. The equipment reference and its instance appear in the tree.
