Connecting a Product to a Bone

You can use a product from an external app and add it as an accessory to a bone. This creates a connection between the bone and the product. You can then define if the product drives the bone, if the bone drives the product, or if both the product and the bone follow each other's movements.

You can connect one or more bones to a product. For example, you can position hands on a steering wheel. If you move both hands, the steering wheel follows the movement of the bones.

This functionality is helpful when you need to define how your human model fits in a specific context.

  1. From the Human section of the action bar, click Product Connection .
  2. In the 3D area or the tree, do the following:
    1. Select a product.
    2. Select a bone.
  3. In the Product Connection panel, choose a direction for the connection:
    OptionDescription
Product to Bone When you change a posture or animate your human, the product follows the movement of the human.
Bone to Product When you move the product, the bone follows the movement of the product.
Both ways The product follows the movement of the human and vice versa.

Important: For the Product to Bone and Both ways options, the functionality works only if you select an IK node (hands or feet).

  4. Optional: Do either of the following:
    • To snap the product onto the bone, click .
    • To select a bone, click .
    • To select and place the Robot at the origin of the product, click .
    • To edit a link, right-click the link in the tree and select Attach Product.
    • To remove a link between a product and a bone, right-click the link in the tree and select Delete link.
    • To reset the offset (product's position that is relative to the bone) when you edit a constraint, click .

Notes:
  • If you want to move the product in the 3D area, the human product must be active in the tree.
  • If the product is already instantiated under the human in the tree, a new instance of the product is created.
  • If the product is already attached to another bone, you can duplicate the product or remove the existing link.
