Creating Parts References

You can create a HVAC part. You can use the command Add > Content to create the part and then assign values to the HVAC part attributes.

Before you begin: The Data Setup must contain the tables that provide the list of values available for each attribute.

About Creating Parts References
  1. In the Top Bar, select Add > Content.
The New Content dialog box appears.
  2. Scroll down the list of types and expand HVAC Physical.
A list appears showing the types of components you can create.

For more information, see Specialize Data Model: About the Unified Typing Mechanism Principles.

  3. In the list, select a type of component.
Note: To display the part dialog box, the Set attribute at creation option must be selected. For more information, see in the 3DEXPERIENCE Platform

In addition to default attributes, the dialog box displays the following attributes whose resources have been set in Data Setup:

    • Standard
    • Part Subtype
    • Material Name
    • Equivalent Diameter
    • End Style

You also need to define the Instantiation Rule attribute. For more information, see Creation Mode of HVAC Object.

  4. In the 3D Part tab, select or clear the Create 3D Part option.
    • If you select Create 3D Part, you create a 3D part with a unique 3D shape and three other options are available:
      • Enable hybrid design
      • Create a geometrical set
      • Create an ordered geometrical set
    • If you clear Create 3D Part, a 3D shape is added by default to the object and you will be able to add one or more 3D shapes later by selecting Insert > 3D shape from the context menu.
If you have created a part with the Create 3D Part option or imported a part with a unique 3D shape, you can switch the 3D part to a product. For more information, see Product Structure Design user's guide: Working with 3D Parts: Switching a 3D Part to a Product
  5. Create the geometry of the part references.
Note: You can use the Part Design app to create the geometry. See
  6. Optional: For parametric parts, create geometrical parameters to drive the part geometry.
For more information, see Knowledge Basics User's Guide: Creating and Working with Parameters: Creating Parameters: Creating a Parameter.
  7. Create ports.
For more information, see Creating Ports
  8. Save the part and store it in a catalog or library.

The new component is created and the HVAC 3D Part Design app opens.

Notes:
  • With new typing, the HVAC object is a strong type without extension anymore, then the Typed Part command allows you to edit the attributes only.
  • If you want to add an electrical port on a piping/tubing part, refer to Electrical 3D Part Design User's Guide: Creating Electrical Devices: Adding Electrical Behavior to a Fluidic Part. The electrical port can be added only on:
    • Piping valve, piping instrument and piping miscellaneous
    • HVAC damper, HVAC instrument and HVAC miscellaneous
