Modifying the Route Orientation

You can modify the orientation of the route.

Before you begin: Open a product containing a route.
  1. Double-click a route and click next to the node you want to modify.
You switch to the HVAC 3D Part Design app and a yellow symbol appears on each node of the route.
  2. Click next to the node from which you want to modify the orientation.
The 3D Manipulator appears and the last active manipulator is displayed.
  3. Press the A key to switch to the Orient Manipulator.

Note: If the node is the last node of the route, the Length Manipulator is directly activated.
  4. From the Orientation Manipulator panel, select the options and enter the value of your choice:
    OptionDescription
Angle Snap Step Graduation value displayed on the ruler
    Lock Direction

Lock Angle While Moving: moves the end points of the current segment along the direction of the next segment to reach the expected orientation.

Unlock Angle While Moving: moves the second point of the current segment along the orientation of the next segment while keeping the length of the current segment.

    Lock Bend

Unlock Bend Angle: A green symbol appears on the bend. The bend angle is modified according to your selection to get the same direction.

Lock Bend Angle: A red symbol appears on the bend. The contextual selection allows you to modify the orientation as much as possible in this direction without modifying the angle.

    Ruler Mode

Local: the 0 is on the plane created by the current segment and the previous segment.

Global: the 0 is on the global Z or projected Z.

Note: It is not possible to apply Lock Direction and Lock bend at the same time because there are too many constraints.

  5. To modify the orientation of the route, do one of the following:
    • Drag the Orient Manipulator.
    • Edit the ruler value. To quickly access the ruler value, press the Space key, enter a value and press Enter.
    • Select a surface or the "wings" of the Robot, a line or an axis of the Robot to orient the route in the same direction. You can invert the direction by:
      • Pressing the T key.
      • Clicking again the geometry.
    • Press the shift key and select the Robot axis to orient the route in the normal direction of the axis, or press the shift key and select the Robot plane to orient the route in the normal direction to the plane.
    Notes:

If you select a plane, the orientation is normal to the plane. If you select a plane and SHIFT, the orientation is coplanar to the plane.

You can select the Robot only when it is put on design, and not on default position, where the selection changes the point of view.

  6. Drag the Create Node Manipulator to create the node.
