Splitting a Route

You can split a route at a point into two different routes. The route can be split at an existing node or at some distance from the node.

Before you begin: Open an object in which you want to split the route.
  1. From the Fluid Design section of the action bar, select Part Mode as process mode.
  2. From the Selection Options dialog box, select Part Selection .
For more information about the different selection options, see Selection Options and Process Modes.
  3. Select the route you want to split.
  4. On the context toolbar, click Split Route .
Note: Directional and 2-point-port nodes are not displayed.
  5. Select the segment of the route where you want to split.
The nearest node becomes the reference point and the ruler appears.
  6. Drag the green dot, and drop it at the required location to split the route.
Tip: You can also click the ruler value and enter a precise value. To quickly access the ruler value, press the Space key, enter a value and press Enter.
  7. From the Split Route panel, click to validate.
The route is split at the selected point.
Note: The Split Route command is not available between port points and directional points.

Tip: To split the route at the existing node indicated by a yellow dot, you can directly select the node.
Notes: Splitting a route can impact the insulation applied on this route. It can be:
  • a direct impact: you split the route on a location where insulation has been applied. Then the insulation will be split and will keep the same attributes value.
  • an indirect impact: you split the route on a location where insulation has not been applied but the link to the reference point is cut. In this case, the link to the reference point must be rerouted to the new end of the route.
