Creating Global Offset Surfaces

You can create offset surfaces with constant distance from the original surfaces. The offset direction corresponds to the normal direction of each patch.

The system tries to combine the selected surfaces to form common areas, and to keep the transition qualities as far as possible during the offset computation. If required, the offset surfaces are trimmed or extrapolated.

Note: The surfaces must be joined. Use the Join command in the Modification section to join surfaces. For further information, see (see Joining Curves and Surfaces).

Before you begin:
  • You must have access to the ICEM Shape Morphing app.
  • Open a 3D shape containing a surface.
  1. From the Surface section of the action bar, click Global Surface Offset .
  2. Select a surface.
  3. Specify an offset distance and click Apply.
  4. Click OK.
