Matching Surfaces

You can match between several objects and boundaries, for example surface-surface match or curve-surface match.

Recommendation: For commands creating transitions between surfaces, use a minimum order of 6 to obtain optimal results.

Before you begin: Create a 3D Shape containing topologically non-contiguous surfaces or curves.
  1. Select first the connecting edge of the surface to be connected (target) and then the adjacent edge of the reference surface (source).
  2. Click OmniMatch .
The matching is created with the default parameters G2 Continuity and Mapping type Exact.

An OmniPlane displays the main direction into which the target control points are moved. You can modify the direction using the Direction options or manipulating the handle.

  3. To change the continuity, do one of the following:
    • In the OmniMatch panel, move the Continuity slider.
    • In the work area, move the pointer to the connected edges, press Alt, right-click, and select another continuity in the mouse menu.
  4. Click OK.
A Matching.Condition.n feature is added to the tree, except if Datum is selected in the Soft Parametrics section.
