Cutting an Object at a Segment Boundary

You can cut objects at segments boundaries either using OmniCut or OmniCutModify, or using Modify Curve Segment.

This task shows you how to:


Before you begin: Open a 3D Shape containing a segmented curve or surface.

Cut a Surface Using OmniCut

Before you begin: Open a 3D Shape containing a segmented surface.
  1. Click OmniCut or OmniCutModify .
  2. Switch to the subobject mode by Ctrl + Alt + click or by in the Sculpt panel.
  3. Click the OmniCut panel.
  4. Select a segment line.
  5. Select the Cut Type.
  6. Click OK.
    The surface is cut at the segment boundary.

In the OmniCut case, the input objects that were cut are set to Hide. In the OmniCutModify case, the input geometry is modified and remains in the Show mode.

Note: If you delete the OmniCut feature, the hidden input objects are not automatically set to Show. It must be done manually.

Cut a Curve Using Modify Curve Segment

You can cut an object at a segment boundary using the Trim option of the Segments Modeling panel.

Note: This option creates a datum element.
