About Selecting Positions

In the Selection sub-panel, you can define positions when creating geometry.

You can define a position on an OmniPlane, a geometry object, an edge, a corner, or an end point. Positions have to be selected, for example, to create a point, a patch, or a curve from points.

First click a creation command, OmniPoint , OmniCurve , or OmniPatch , for example, in the action bar, then right-click in the work area to open the Selection sub-panel.

Intersection
Selects intersection points. Clicking the button opens the Selection Intersection sub-panel.
  1. Select a Projection option:
    • None projects the intersection point onto the curve.
    • YZ-Plane projects the intersection point in x-direction.
    • XZ-Plane projects the intersection point in y-direction.
    • XY-Plane projects the intersection point in z-direction.
    • Plane projects the intersection point onto the current plane.
  2. Select a curve.
  3. Select an intersection object, for example a curve, a surface, an OmniPlane, or a section.
Notes:
  • The selected curves can be analysis entities, for example sections.
  • If the selected curves intersect several times in the projection plane, the intersection point nearest to the pick position of the second selected entity is selected.
  • The selection order has influence on the intersection point position and can provide different results. The intersection point is calculated from the first selected entity.
Point
Defines a position at the specified point coordinates.
Increment
Defines a position by increment values (offset values) relative to the current point coordinates.
Project to Current Plane
The selected position is projected onto the current plane.
