Assigning and Displaying Controls

You can individually assign and display controls types to geometry objects.

This task shows you how to:

Before you begin: Create a 3D Shape containing at least three surfaces.

Assign and Display One Controls Type to One or Multiple Surfaces

  1. Select Surface.1 and Surface.2.
  2. Click Activate Controls .
    The selection mode changes to subobject mode and the last used controls type is displayed on the selected surfaces, for example Control Points .



  3. Change the selection mode to object mode and clear the selection.
    The Activate Controls and Control Points options are in cleared mixed status. The control points are displayed on the cleared surfaces.



  4. Click Activate Controls .
    Only Control Points is cleared in mixed status. All controls types on the geometry are hidden until you click Activate Controls again.



  5. Click Control Points .
    The Control Points option is cleared. The display of the controls points on the geometry is permanently removed.

Assign Different Controls Types on Multiple Surfaces and Display All Control Types

  1. Assign controls points to Surface.1 and Surface.2 as described in the previous step and clear the selection.
  2. Select Surface.3.
    All Controls options are cleared. On Surface.3, no controls type is displayed.
  3. Click Torque Handles and Activate Controls .
    The Activate Controls and Torque Handles options are in selected mode. Torques handles are displayed on Surface.3.



  4. Change the selection mode to object mode and clear the selection.
    The Activate Controls , Control Points , and Torque Handles options are in cleared mixed status. Surface.1 and 2 are displayed with control points and Surface.3 with torque handles.



  5. Click Activate Controls to turn it off.
    No controls types are displayed on the surfaces. Control Points and Torque Handles remain in cleared mixed state.

  6. Select Surface.1, Surface.2, and Surface.3.
    Control Points and Torque Handles are in selected mixed status. No controls types are displayed on the selected surfaces.

  7. Click Activate Controls .
    The selected surfaces are displayed with the assigned controls types and the selection mode changes to subobject mode .
  8. Change the selection mode to object mode and clear the selection.
    Activate Controls , Control Points , and Torque Handles are in cleared mixed status. The cleared surfaces are displayed with the assigned controls types.



  9. Click Control Points to turn it off.
    Activate Controls and Torque Handles are in cleared mixed status. Only torque handles are displayed on Surface.3.



  10. Click Torque Handles to turn it off.
    All Controls options are cleared. All controls types are permanently hidden.
